Before we get started, here are some general rules:

- Do not assume that all of your windows are the same size.  It's a good idea to measure all windows.  The first and second story windows may look the same, but often times are not.

- Use a tape measure.  Do not use a ruler.

STEP 1:  Measure the width of your window.
For the most authentic look, we recommend measuring only the window opening not including any frame or trim around it. Typically, the width of your shutters should be half of your total window width. However, vinyl shutters are available in a handful of sizes.  Use the chart below to help you determine the width of your vinyl shutters.  Keep in mind that the shutters should look like if they could close to cover the window. Vinyl shutters are available in 12" and 15" standard widths.  Custom widths are also available.

STEP 2:  Measure the height of your window.
Measure the height of your window.  For the most authentic look, we recommend measuring only the height of the window opening not including any frame or trim around the window.  It should look like the shutters could close inside the window opening.

Standard vinyl shutters are available in the following heights: 35", 39", 43", 47", 51", 55", 59", 63", 67", 71".  It is generally recommend that you go with the closest height available.  If your window height falls right between two standard heights, we recommend rounding up to the next available standard size.  Or, we also offer custom sized vinyl shutters that are available in 1/4" height increments.
