Shutter dogs, tiebacks, or holdbacks are traditionally used to hold functional shutters in the open position.  Faux shutter holdbacks give a traditional look to decorative or non functional shutters.  Faux hardware is often used with fixed mounted vinyl or wood shutters.  Faux shutter dogs are installed at or near the far edge of the shutter.
